HO-3 Special Form

Tory Tiger Explaining Insurance Policy
"HO-3 form? Oh, we’re moving up in the insurance world now, baby! This is the all-star, varsity jacket-wearing cool kid of homeowner policies. It’s an open-perils policy for your house—fancy speak for, 'If something bad happens, we’re probably covering it, unless it’s on our secret no-no list.' Fire? Covered. Tornado? Covered. Alien invasion? Okay, not that, but you get the vibe. Your stuff inside, though? That’s on the named perils list, so read the fine print, champ.'"

HO-3: Special Form

The HO-3 form, or special form homeowners insurance, is the most common and versatile policy type. It provides "open peril" coverage for the structure of the home, meaning it covers all risks except those specifically excluded. Personal property is covered on a "named peril" basis, protecting against specific listed risks. HO-3 also includes liability coverage, medical payments, and additional living expenses, offering broad and flexible protection for homeowners.
